An Introduction to CAN in Multi-node Systems and its Simplified Use with an API
When the CAN two-wire, high-speed, highly reliable, serial communication bus is used for networking MCUs in embedded systems, its multiple-master hierarchy enables intelligent and redundant links for nodes spaced up to 1000 meters apart. Lower-cost MCUs with on-chip CAN peripherals and automated fault detection and correction capabilities are now available. These devices make CAN a valuable networking technology for a whole range of next-generation products. This session is a technical introduction on how CAN provides a robust network with details about CAN's ability to provide low latency, flexible routing of messages, and error handling. The session introduces an application-programming interface (API) that makes CAN easier to use, boosting its ease of implementation. |
