Quick-start Guide to Using the Renesas CAN API
This hands-on DevCon 2008 session explains how to receive data of a certain CAN ID into a slot and then handle that data in the application, all at the C-programming level. It also covers the details of making transmissions from a CAN slot. Using the debug Watch window, the CAN data length, byte content, and ID are checked. With a simple low-cost ($50) CAN bus monitor, the CAN bus traffic is viewed. The API used in the lab work is the same one that is used for Flash-over-CAN and other RTA M16C CAN sample applications.
