Design Tips for Getting Optimal Performance from On-chip A/D Converters
Obtaining the optimum performance from the analog-to-digital converter (A/D or ADC) built into most microcomputers used in embedded systems requires paying attention to design factors that are sometimes overlooked. This session takes an application-level look at the important issues and characteristics that should be considered. For example, it describes the effects of source impedance, reference voltage and sampling rates on the ADC performance achieved and shows design methods for improving that performance. Criteria for sensor selection are also discussed.
