MCU: Future Device Developments and Application Issues
Microcontroller (MCU) suppliers are delivering products to meet an array of performance and power requirements, including highly sophisticated and integrated peripherals such as IEBus, LCD drivers, USB, Ethernet, and connectivity modules; more on-chip memory; easy-to-use development tools; and packages that fit in tight spaces. In most cases, this is accomplished without increasing the MCUs' cost. But as OEMs' the performance needs increase, the onus swings to the system designer to tap the potential of the latest MCUs. That brings to mind a series of questions: How will the MCU vendors continue to meet the OEMs' needs? What new technologies are coming down the pike? How will a good balance be achieved between technology advancements and cost? How can MCU suppliers develop efficient and compelling reference solutions? How will the role of software and middleware change over time? These are among the questions that'll be tackled by this group of experts.
